Hi All :) Just joined up here and notice a few familiar faces allready, i've been meaning to check this place out for a while but never got round to it. Some may know me from Jamma+ or the retrogamer forum or if you're really sad you may have stumbled across some music production linked to my name over the years..... anywhoo i've been having a read through some of the forum posts and thought i'd better do my intro.....
I've been into the retro gaming stuff since it wasn't retro ;) but really got into the arcade collecting via my introduction to Mame in the late 90's when I converted an old Electrocoin Xenon cab to Mame (way before you could just google 'Mame cabinet' and get 5 million results!). I'm not a great big collector of machines like some as I simply don't have the space, I have 1 Jamma Cab (with 2 boards  ) ,a Time Crisis SD machine, a 'dedi-mamed' ChaseHQ, an upright driving cab with pc games and emulated stuff, another with handlebars for the motorbike games and my original first Mame cab I mentioned above plus a scratch built cocktail and a mini mame cab I built for my son.
I also have loads of old consoles and computers (too many to remember nevermind listing them!), i've been playing a lot on the PSOne lately with my son on the Tony Hawk Games which is sort of retro these days but if it's old arcade games I like different types of stuff like Ghosts n Goblins, Phoenix, Gemini Wing, 1943, Outrun, ChaseHQ and other stuff that I discovered via Mame over the last decade.
I wouldn't mind one of those little bookie cabs to Mame as it would be more "Wife Friendly" in the house :)
Anyway better stop writing now or i'll have nothing to post about ;)

Evening!

Just a quick hello, 36 year old chap from London, who has F I N A L L Y gotten around to building a MAME cabinet, after nearly 10 years of umming and aahing.

I even bought myself a router, which made me feel amusingly middle aged... I now need a shed.

I've a very understanding better half who allows me to have a Roland TD-20 in the bedroom, but has me limited to one cabinet in the lounge, a US style three sided job that is 50% complete. I bought a Sega Space Trek Cocktail a while back on GUmtree to try and get a mame setup inside, without damaging/removing any of the originalk hardware. Game never ran properly, but I did manage to get a Mame setup working for a little while.

I'm now probably going to sell the Space Trek, to fund the purchase of a tri-sync monitor for the MAME machine, but 19 inch TriSync seem to be like Gold Dust.

SO if anybody has a 19" monitor, pref tri or dual sync... although a good 15khz would do at a pinch. I'll be happy with GNG, Wardener, TNZS, R-Type... :)

Cheers

Hi,

Nice to see another great retro gaming site 8-)
I'm Jon Stoodley, 40 something retro gamer. I'm currently UK record holder at Pacman (arcade) and am in the process towards my 'perfect' game.
Currently perfect to the 3rd Key and using no patterns. Just freehand grouping up to board 21, then patterned to 256.
I had 3,221k in June 1983, then nearly 25 years to the day I got that score, beat it live at Funspot, USA at last years tourney.

Ciao!
I'm new here....
I'm writing from Italy, i'm 26 years old.
I always loved the videogames and i'm a dreamcast fan/collector/lover :D
I have a lot of console but nothing of arcade....until some month ago...
because now i have a MVS consolized board and some MVS too (yeah I know it's nothing special....but for me it's nice)
I'm a newbie in the Arcade world, so...i've decided to sing me in this forum, hoping to learn something!
And...sorry for my english...i know it is poor....but i hope you can understand me anyway ;)
Ciao!!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm Peter.

Been a long time console and home computer owner, first console was a Colecovision and first computer was a Texas Instruments TI99/4A. Pretty much breathe games on a daily basis since I work as a game designer.

Just recently decided to go for it and get a Candy Cab (still looking), and have spent the last few days reading up on it all.

Thanks everyone for all the useful info at this place.

Hello! I've found this site via NTSC-UK.com, I like what I see! I'm a born and bred Londoner, looking to purchase his first arcade cabinet within the next year or so! I'm a massive fan of old school action games, especially anything to do with the Neo Geo, though I'm also partial to the odd bit of JRPG goodness.

Hello to you all!

Hi, I'm Dave. I loved playing arcades around the time of Final Fight and Street Fighter II. I've got a consolized MVS but I'm really tempted to get a proper cab for all my Neo Geo games.
Stay a while, stay forever.
