nanao ms8 -29 help please

Post by evildoberman » June 10th, 2018, 11:31 pm

Hello all i bought an astro city 2 cabinet with a nanao ms8-29 chassis and toshiba tube 15khz ,played for a couple of weeks on it ( was working fine so far )
turned it on one day ,got a picture for like 5 seconds then the screen went black ( without a bang or anything just a picture shutdown )

All im getting now is black screen with no neckglow ,the fuses ( 2 of them ) are both fine .....
i can push the degaus switch and thats working it does degaus ,but thats about all ....
could this be a hot problem or something else maybe?

Is there annyone that could help me get this great chassis back working again ???

Any steps i could start with ?

With this chassis I would look for cracked solder joints.

This part gets very toasty:

The PCB on mine had turned completely brown on the solder side.

With that said, the fact that your picture went so abruptly could point to a component failure. Look it over in any case.

That's way too much. You could easily get two working chassis for that price.

Anyway, no harm in giving it a quick look over.
