Sega Astro City

Post by ozzieowl » January 29th, 2014, 9:18 pm

Currently awaiting delivery of an Astro City and buying a couple of boards to play once it arrives. Already got a vertical Cave shoot-em-up and wanting to get a Streetfighter Zero board. The cab is currently 2 player, 3 buttons. How do I convert the cab to 6 buttons? I presume I need a new control panel, but will I also need new wiring?

Yep, you'll need a 2L12B panel for Street Fighter Zero. If your new panel doesn't come with wiring then you need the following for a 2L12B panel:

2 x [600-6317-17 [Player 1 Wiring harness 1L3B]]

1 x [600-6227-10 [Extra Button Loom for Astro/Blast and Naomi]]

Your 2L6B panel should have two of the 1L3B looms which you can borrow or you can just buy two new ones to save having to swap them about.

You'll also need a CPS2>Astro adapter to connect your CPS2 kick connector to the aux button connector in the bottom of the Astro. I can make this for you if needs be.

Thanks for the help. I'll be in touch for the adapter if I get the board. Are the 2L12B control panels easy to find?

Thanks for the link.

Good grief, £120 approx plus shipping. Is that the going rate for one? :wtf:

Not cheap, but IMHO it's worth it. You can always get an used one out of YAJ or buy a repro. :)

Yes, it seems that Sanwa stopped production for those a few years ago so they aren't going to get a restock, I'm still waiting for a refund.

Seems like you're right. I've contacted Akishop, and here's their reply:
Hello Raf,

Panels are not sold anymore, we are trying to buy bulk order and see if that is possible or not.

We are still in business but we have big problem with this old site which is why we will launch new web shop within this month so we can start focusing on customer service again.

Best Regards,
Akishop
Let's hope for the 'bulk order' - an official one, of course.

Oh wow, they still haven't replied to my 3 mails but now it makes sense.

Sigh, I need a new CP so badly.
