How much would you pay for a new mint Blastcity?

Post by jayducky » August 3rd, 2011, 8:21 pm

If someone where able to get you a SEGA Blastcity cab in perfect condition, what do you think the market value would be? Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I'm a new member and I could not find a price check thread. :eh:

Does anyone have an EGRET 2 they would like to sell? West coast USA............anyone??

There's a pretty damn good looking one on the neo-geo forums right now for $975.

If it was brand new I would pay £1000 for one, if it was mint but old £700.

I would throw it in the trash can

Seriously, don't buy a Blast City. Chassis always goes out, the CP bezel is held on by chewing gum and thumb tacks, the build quality is meh, the power supply sucks... sure, when the 2931 works, it looks amazing, but they all break.

Idk. I hate Blast Cities.

Get a E2/E3. :D

Yeah, E2's are awesome! In all my research I have found that there is no "perfect" cab. The blast is versatile. I am a SEGA fan though. It's like telling an apple fan that the iphone sucks. :wtf: I have never owned a cab before so what do I know? Maybe I should start looking for an Egret 2? Love the tate mech but can only play low res games.

Blast is a great cab mate :) They're susceptible to a few problems but all cabs have their share.

Thanks for the reassurance! I will follow through and get a Blast. If I later find there might be a better cab out there, then I will have to get another cab. ;)

I've always said if I had a time machine and could fill the games room with one type of brand new cab, they would be Blast Cities. The problem with the cabs these days is that quite a few design and reliability issues have developed after 13-15 years of Club Sega abuse. I still love them though!

If you could get a brand new blast city then it would be great. But they don't age well and years of arcade abuse makes them a poor second hand buy - I had two and sold both at a loss due to the crapness of build quality that is a Blast...

Far better options are :-

Japan spec NNC
Egret-II if only after 15/24Khz gaming.
Konami Windy-II
2 * Vewlix Diamond Blacks,2 * Vewlix-F, 1 * Sega Rally 3, 1 * Video Pinball, 1 * DinoKing (JAMMA Converted).

As long as we are on the subject of bad build quality, personally I completely disagree with the earlier comments about suggesting an Egret 3. The Egret 2 is great, but the 3 has a crap monitor chassis that looks much worse than a Blast with low res games, and has one of the worst power supplies known to man.

I also agree with the great qualities of the WIndy 2's but good luck finding those in the states, for some reason they never show up.

I can vouch for that. I have been to Dave's cave and begged and pleaded with him to sell me one to no avail

I had a Blast and disliked it. Sold it for a pair of NAC's and love everything about them.

Plus parts are so easy to come by for them.

I currently have

Blast
New astro
E2
NNC (conversion)
Cyberlead

E2 easy tate mech is excellent, but I never use it. I've owned 2 blasts, since buying I have replaced parts, stripped, cleaned and cools worked on the monitor. At this stage the Blast if my favourite cab.

If you could still buy any NOS CRT cabs I would be all over it :) i think for a perfect condition Blast £800-850.
