Egret II

Post by ShadowDancer »

How much should I be looking to pay for a Taito Egret II?

I'm with the understanding that the monitor is easy enough to rotate..
(I don't have the space for 2, or the money and the wife would hurt me)

Ideally, 2P CP with 4 buttons wired (Neo)

I'm also in South Wales should you be looking to offload one...

Thanks, Help appreciated :)

yeah the monitor is easy enough rotate, probably one of the easiest as it on a mechanism so it just unscrews and then you twist ,you still have to unscrew the monitor surround adn turn and that take's longer than rotating the monitor. :awe: most machines will probably have a 2p 12 butons ! but there are variations around.and e3 panel are easier get.
price this is very debatable but your looking at least £400 + depending on conditon ,at the 400 range you'll probably have very minor burn "insert coin" but normall enough in all these cabs and normally not noticeable during game play!

I'd say £400 is the absolute minimum for a dog rough one, you're looking at 650+ for one with no burn, very nice condition etc. I paid £650 for one with a little burn not long back. £400 will get you an E2 sure, but it won't be very nice condition. £500-550 will get you a nice one however with maybe probably some burn in.

if condition is important and budget is a problem, look at a Sega New Astro City (or even just a Astro City - same cab really as most come with MS9 too) as they have the same monitors and are usually cheaper and could get a decent enough one for £400-500 easy.

Sure the rotate mech in a Egret II is great but make sure you dont have to take it all out if you have to move it up stairs etc as a cab with a monitor is a heavy beast and the E2 is not a cab you would want to take the monitor out of on a regular basis where as most Sega cabs have the monitors in a frames so are easy to rotate and remove from the cab.

If I was buying an E2 tough id want it to be a tidy one for £600-700 rather than a dog at £400 as £400 is a lot of £££ for a poor condition cab thats not really that uncommon.

The monitors in an Astro are pretty easy to rotate too - although there is no mechanism as others have said it is in a frame so easy to grab (wear gloves!) and although heavy is easy enough for one person... Wouldnt want to do it every day tho.

I wouldn't be rotating it all the time...if I had it in Hori..I'd probably leave it that way all week and play
through 1-2 Hori games (Or even longer) Then tate it for some vert shooters...

It has to come up a flight of around 11 stairs though, into a first floor flat...is that going to pose a problem?

Thanks for help..

Astro's are just as easy to rotate, the monitor is on a frame. You still need to rotate the bezel on and E2, not as easy as it sounds.

A minty E2 would fetch £800+ A nice Astro would be around £500.

How much should I be looking to pay for an Egret III (i understand it plays in 15 24 and 31?)

Am I better off just waiting (I've waited this long!)

I've managed to get £400 to one side that's all (so far)

I like the design on the E3 And the purple colour...

I think Speedlolita sold his for £500..
