a) Capcom send a dev board, that could potentially fix dead boards, to developers - after all I'd assume they consider that their business and would want to be as secretive about it as possible, OR
b) Capcom sent decrypted program files to the developer - and risking someone re-engineering the encryption algorithm this way, if anybody was bothered to do so
All speculation at this point. Let's wait until Richy receives the board.

That PROVES my theory (I was talking about this to idc the other day) that a board with DEBUG SWITCHES must exist for the CPS2 as I found a lot of debug code on the CPS2 ROMs while working them on IDA disassembler...

Now, this need real analysis by someone who understand the hardware.

If someone is worried about counterfeits being made out of this, it's up to the buyers to look for MASK ROMS, battery, CAPCOM security seals and pins.

The goal is give people freedom from the tyranny of the suicide battery.

That's a really interesting piece of hardware. I'm glad it ended up in good hands.

We also have some interest in the security key programming protocol for the encryption keys so that dead games can be re-flashed with the with the security data rather than using hacked ROMs. This board might be useful.
That is fantastic news. Are those decrypted versions region specific? That's the way it should be, I've picked up a couple of phoenixed boards in the past that have had a fixed version from another region installed, bugs the hell out of me.

Wow Richy, what a find. I've only just noticed this thread and so I've missed the pictures. :( The hitbox switch is so cool.

This reminds me of a page talking about CPS1 dip-switch settings that allowed you to see hitboxes in SFII, too.

Did a quick google search and found the page again.

Not strictly OT, but I thought it'd be best to share it, in case anybody might be interested and had not found it yet.

This is an awesome find and I hope that you guys can come up with the secret to feeding the security code through without "hacking" it. I know with my superx phoenix board it has a ton of odd glitches that happen that don't happen with my other super x board ie; odd slowdowns happening at strange times, hit boxes showing up and/or not showing up, etc.

It would also be nice to be able to view hit box data on other cps2 games. I know the yoga book hyper frame data used a dev hyper anniversary board. The thing that sucks about it is that it only has new character info and not old character data. I wish I could help you guys but I have no knowledge whatsoever on this stuff, but your work is appreciated :D
