Unknown japanese Capcom CPS1 pcb

Hi,
I've just received a strange Capcom CPS1 pcb.
A- and C-boards look genuine, although the latter is battery-free.
B-board seems like a boot, with mask roms labeled "XMQQ (2002-10-24)".

The A-board it came with is dead, but swapping it with a known working one resulted in the following:


with "Pokonyan 940322 Japan" displayed at boot.

It is playable, with sound, and seems to contain only 2 "levels" according to the test mode. It seems however to require a special panel, as A and B buttons are referred to as "rolling" and "flower", respectively, in the test mode.

Nothing very exciting, but I am just wondering if anyone has ever heard of it ?
Is it some kind of hack ?
Or maybe a promotional item distributed in Japan to promote the Pokonyan anime ?
"2002-10-24" is also odd, given the lifetime of the CPS1 hardware.
Although the B-board looks very suspicious, I don't see why someone would produce something with this game on the CPS1 hardware

My best guess....I'm gonna say that's the undumped game 'Pokonyan Balloon', and that B-Board is genuine, just a unique alternate version like with Pang 3.

It is the same character, spinning and throwing flowers to incoming balloons.
Not a platformer game however like in the youtube video.

I am still curious about the "2002-10-24" date stamped on the chips, as: (i) 1993 and 1994 are shown on the title screen; (ii) the last game released on the CPS1 hardware was in 1995.

I have a Wellon VP-280 programmer. If someone is willing to help me to know which chips should be dumped, I can try to do it.
However, as already mentioned, the game is very basic, I am not sure it could be interesting to anyone...

Oh please do get it dumped! You'll need to get all the chips off the B-Board. If you have the facility the GAL chips too.

Looking at the pcb, there are part numbers silkscreened, and i would not be surprised if under the chips, there are part numbers as well.
It would be likely all chips with stickers are '27C301' aka 27C1000 which your Wellon can read. But you should see that, when you take the chips out of socket.

Use a flat head screwdriver to gently lift the chips out of socket, with no damage
Please name the files as the socket name/labels (example XMQQ-5A.bin, XMQQ-5B.bin and so on, you can see from the stickers.)

The smaller bottom-left chip is likely "27C512". The two unlabelled chips i cannot read, the pictures are not high res enough.
A high-res picture of the complete B-Board with the C board removed would be very welcome.

If you provide a dump, it should be relatively 'easy' to get a driver going in MAME which can run the game.

The game is 'valuable' in a sense that it is rare and should be preserved. I don't think it is worth to bootleg this, it uses a unique B board and specialized controls (spinner + 2 buttons).
(Falls into the category of that Sonic The Hedgehog Popcorn machine thingy on Sega C2 hardware.)

If you have any issues or questions dumping this, just shoot me a PM. Don't attempt to read the chips as 27C010.. they are diferent (27C1000). I hope the Wellon can read them

ok, I have dumped all the B board ROMs. There were also two GALs, which I also dumped. I don't know if there are needed and/or protected.

I checked the MAME website for submission of new ROMs, but couldn't find anything easy to do
I can also post the files somewhere if anyone is interested in them.

ok, dump is not good. The silkscreen was wrong: most chips are not 27C301, but AT27C010.
I will have to dump the board again...

Btw, the B-board looks like a boot, a few Capcom games use the same original board 89625B-1 (Japanese region) such as Magic Sword, FFight, Nemo...
