Apologies for this isn't very helpful or contributing to the subject, but console football games really killed the arcade form of calcio for me. I'm not saying you should play FIFA, no no no, I'm saying you might want to check out these under appreciated gems if you haven't already:

well, I really love Ultimate 11! It was one of the first mvs I got, luckily it's dirt cheap compared to the aes version. You can't beat the feeling of charging up your power bar and shooting a ball that knocks down the goal keeper. Solid top 10 in my favourite neo games, maybe even top 5!

also super sidekick 1 and soccer brawl are amazing

I found the Street Fighter series to be utter balls. The gameplay is just terrible and bears no resemblance to actual street fighting. Also imho the gameplay is actually worse in the later games, but people still pay more for them!

That's actually really accurate.

I love when video games doesn't try to be the real thing.

Not an arcade game but my absolute favorite all time arcade-like soccer game is Super Mario Strikers for the GameCube. It's a blast for multi-plyaer and plays well on a cab. With Dolphin emulation it looks even better than the original. I like it so much I'm in the midst of building a dedicated mini-cab for it.

I think Virtua Striker 4 is probably the best arcade footy game..

Konami did release PES 2014 in Japan in the arcades.

IMHO, The Virtua Striker saga is the top for "real" soccer simulation. VS4 is far the best, with stunning graphics, analogue sticks and real-time tactic change buttons.
Then there are "arcade" soccer games, like Football Champ and Super Sidekicks, that have a completely different gameplay. I prefer these ones
