Unibios rom size

I downloaded the older Unibios v2.3 from the official site. I read that a 27C1024 eprom is used for the unibios but that eprom is 1MB and the unibios file is 128KB. Do I just burn the 128KB file onto the 1 MB eprom? Why is there such a size discrepancy?

eprom question

Hey guys,
I have a simple eprom question. Can I use a bigger eprom in place of a smaller one. For example if my image is 1mb and my eprom is 2mb, is there a way to get it to work (burn as is or double the image)?

Re: No sound Cad & Dino cps qsound

Unfortunately, no. All I have to work with is a voltmeter. I did notice that the sound amp is not warm at all after playing it deaf for 20 minutes or so. I would check if the amp and the op-amps are getting power (12V). There is also a TDA1543 that is powered by a 7805 (input is 12V output is 5V). ...

Re: No sound Cad & Dino cps qsound

I figured out that my problem is coming from the Q-sound board, 92636D-5. I'm not sure which component is bad, but given the fact that one of the traces was burned up on the jamma connector board and there was a gouge missing from the sound amp, it seems this board maybe got plugged in wrong and sho...

Re: No sound Cad & Dino cps qsound

I replaced the sound amp HA13001, and it still is dead.

Back to the drawing board, as the old adage goes. :?

Re: No sound Cad & Dino cps qsound

a dead Kabuki (Z80) is always a possibility This is something that I thought about. I have a Z80 from a CPS2 that is easily swappable, but do I need to undo the changes I made to the motherboard if I put a regular Z80 on instead of the kabuki? The changes were removing a cap and resister, bridging ...

No sound Cad & Dino cps qsound

Please help  . I get no sound out of my Cadillacs & Dinosaurs board. I've tried mono from the jamma connector and stereo through the qsound plugs. The board arrived dead. No picture or sound on bootup. The C-board battery registered 2.9V, but the kabuki battery was dead. I followed the tutoria...

Re: Gokujou Parodius color problem (Konami GX)

I probed the voltages coming off of the red, blue, and green lines at the edge connector and the blue signal is lower, .9 vs 1.2 for the red and green. This was done with the color test screen so that the image was constant and they should be outputting the same strength. I started to trace the blue...

Re: Gokujou Parodius color problem (Konami GX)

It's unlikely to be an easy fix then. I had an ESPRade that looked like that and It was bad ram and damaged tracks. Looks like your blue is not outputting high enough, you could try working back from the jamma edge on the blue line and see if you can spot any signs of damage I'll poke around a bit ...

Re: Gokujou Parodius color problem (Konami GX)

The yellow is pretty severe. My monitor looks fine when I throw all sorts of boards into it, cps1, system16, taito, raizing, etc. I haven't messed with the gains at all, but I think it has to be a pcb problem.

Re: Gokujou Parodius color problem (Konami GX)

Is this on a supergun or a cab? It's on a cab. New Astro with Nanao monitor. that message should be blue to my knowledge. Sounds like your motherboard is shot. Do you have another board to try (GX or not) If you're near New Jersey, I'll gladly diagnose your board, I have spare GX parts on hand. I h...
