Re: Strikers 1945 graphics problem

Is the main risk ruining the chip from too much heat or is it making solder bridges if I use too much solder? Yeah, I don't know how cost effective it would be to send it out for repair. Maybe I'll order up a very fine soldering tip and give it a go myself. I imagine I'll get some negative karma if ...

Re: Strikers 1945 graphics problem

I didn't notice any visible damage, scratched traces, or signs of spillage. I can't see any of the letters during the bootup test, it's only big blocks. I was playing around with it just randomly pressing on chips and I noticed that if I press down firmly on the surface mounted chips at U1 and U20, ...

Re: Strikers 1945 graphics problem

Thanks for the tips, Tim. I'll play around with it a little to see if I can find anything fishy. I haven't been able to notice any bad solder joints or damaged traces at first glance.

Re: The man who invented fighting games

Great interview!

I find it incredibly ironic that he invented Street Fighter and then went on to make Fatal Fury. Growing up in the arcades, I remember most people dismissed Fatal Fury as a knockoff of SFII.

Capcom Concept Cabinet: Did it exist?

While browsing through some Capcom flyers, I kept seeing pictures of the Capcom Concept Cabinet. Did this cab really exist or was it a prototype only? It looks like a pretty cool design.

Okay, thanks. I'll give it a shot.

Update: Well, no luck with the eproms. :(

Re: Strikers 1945 graphics problem

I've checked the 5V and pushed down on all the eproms to make sure they're fully seated. I tried pressing down on various chips while it's running to see if anything helps but so far no luck. Could it be a bad eprom? I guess I can check the eproms. That board looks to have a similar problem but mine...

Strikers 1945 graphics problem

I just picked up a Strikers 1945 board that seems to play music/sound and controls fine but the graphics are all messed up. It was working according to the seller before shipping. Any ideas of what is wrong with this board? Here's a pic of the problem: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7025/6511379603_7...

Cyber Lip isn't too bad. It's worth it to see the awesome ending.

Strider is another one that's pretty easy to 1cc if you plan a route through the levels.

That's the Street Fighter way. Kind of like how Guile can walk forward while throwing sonic booms and standing flash kicks.

Re: I'm sick of both ls32 and jlf

I find fireball motions much easier to do on LS-32s than with JLFs. Just stick with the LS-32. I know all the SFIV cabs use JLF, but back in the day LS-32 was preferred for fighters. It has much shorter throw. Take a look at the end of the video of SBO SSFIIX tournament: http://www.hasntfiguredoutho...

Re: Whats wrong with lp PM hp

When Street Fighter II came out, at least in the US, the buttons on the control panel were labeled jab, strong, fierce, short, forward, and roundhouse.
Back then, everyone played SFII in the arcades. I think you'd have gotten funny looks if you said light punch or heavy punch back then.
