Re: cps2 Qsound ram error

Probably your fault will be the PAL plus one of the TTL logic chips around it.

Purchase a GAL16V8 IC and program it with the correct file from this site:

Re: cps2 Qsound ram error

Can you try BGSA3 and BGSA4 PALs on other CPS2 board? Early ones have socket, is easy to test.

Re: cps2 Qsound ram error

Try replacing Z80 RAM (28 pin SMD IC at position 2K) standard 6264 SRAM IC. The clock for the Philips DAC IC comes from the QSOUND DSP, not related to Z80 clock.

Re: Ghost Pilots audio issues

Ghost Pilots use the early PRG board with separated PCM A and PCM B data. Considering that SNK likes to use the "PCM B" function of the YM2610 to music, you want to focus diagnosis on the V1x roms and the 74LS174 (latches) related to the V1x roms. (V1x = PCM A, V2x = PCM B) It can be broken traces s...

Re: Sega Model 3 resolution

The monitor I had at the time I played around with the MODEL 3 jumpers was a Philips Brilliance 19' which support composite sync, H/V sync and even SoG. Maybe that is important, indeed.

Re: Sega Naomi 2 Ramdac issue

Reverse engineering has been done already. I thought you just wanted to fix your board. Look for the DC HDMI thing. I was under the impression that if reverse engineering had been done, then I would have started repairs on my N2 weeks ago and this thread wouldn't exist. That for some reason isn't t...

Buy a Dreamcast with broken drive and salvage it from there.

Re: CPS2 B-Board dead?

Lithium batteries do not drop voltage at first, they drop the supplied current so you get the nominal voltage even when it's practically empty. The problem is that when it is empty, the act of power cycling the board may cause the voltage to sweep low due to current deprivation from the battery side...

Re: Boot or Original : Post original/bootleg PCB photos here.

A good reason to peel a CPSQ game out would be the casing fan getting faulty and being unable to source a replacement. If that board was meant to run naked from factory, the C board would have black insulation foam glued to it and the battery, to prevent an accidental short and deletion of encryptio...

But that's a waste if he has a hardware fault. He need to test first.

Re: [Solved] CPS2 White screen

The problem is not a delay or anything, two of the signals used to setup the key writing are actually bus control signals, the arduino must release them completely after programming the key, so turn them all into inputs so they don't affect the board when key programming is done.

Flash memory is consumable, unfortunately. You might have to replace the chip(s) on the simm.

Re: CPS2 B-Board dead?

Take a blank eprom, write Razoola's suicide test on it and replace rom 03 with the one you just wrote. Power it on. If it suicided and is physically ok the test will launch and the first music will be played. Diagnostic results of basic tests will be displayed on the screen. Faults on the A board ca...

Re: CPS2 White screen

The color on the solid screen when it did not boot is not a signal of anything, each unique board chipset has a tendency to power on in a specific state by chip production characteristics. It varies from A board to A board. And it means nothing. Edit: Depending on how the games are programmed, some ...

Re: CPS2 White screen

Try it with the B board disassembled. If it works every time, mount it on the casing and press the connectors in with your fingers, check if they bend in when you push. If they do the casing is damaged and need repair.

Re: MVS MV1-A vertical lines

One of the data lines for the FIX ROM (S-FIX and S1 on cart) is severed. Sprites (C-ROMs) are fine. These are input to pins of the FIX at the chip NEO-GRC. https://wiki.neogeodev.org/images/c/c5/Neo-grc_pinout.png Check this image and follow the traces for these signals marked FIXD0 to FIXD7, one of...
