Re: MS9-29T component identification

It's a high voltage polypropylene capacitor.

The marking on it seems to read 103J2KV, which I think deciphers to:

103J = 10000pf or 10nf or 0.01uf
2KV = 2000V

Maybe someone can confirm.

TL:DR; can i burn bb5 directly to a 27c512?
What did you do here? Did you double up the rom? If you didn't, try that.

This is easily done with command prompt in Windows:

copy /b bb5.rom + bb5.rom bb5_512.rom

The Astro City uses a 10 plug TE Amp connector whilst the Naomi Universal (and all subsequent cabs of that shape) uses a 15 plug TE Amp connector.
There's an adapter available to use an older kick harness on Naomi Universal / Net City, so it's not that big of a deal. The pinout is just different.

Re: Domy HV

I don't know, 26" is somewhat common in the arcade space. Aero City has a 26" Nanao. Older wooden Sega sitdown cabs also have these, like Daytona USA, Sega Rally and Wing War. Certain era Midway racing games all have 26" Wells Gardners, like Cruis'n USA and Hydro Thunder. However, these have Philips...

Re: WTB: Capcom Impress PSU

Does it whine regardless of what you're connecting to it? Some PSUs whine when there's not enough load put on them (a Pandora's Box, a Cave CV-1000 or a MVS MV1C are very low-power).

Looking at pics online it's a pretty beefy PSU (+5V 12A).

Re: Removing Impress Monitor

So after I discharge the monitor, it's safe to just grab the anode cup and pull it out? The motion's kind of like pinching right? That's right, however, not all anode connectors are the same. Sometimes it's easier to push one of the pins with your discharging tool (screw driver) and then pulling th...

Re: Removing Impress Monitor

I don't have any experience removing one, but I suspect it's easiest if you just disconnect everything that connects the chassis to the tube. So anode cap off (remember to discharge for peace of mind), neck board off, dag wire off neck board, yoke connectors off chassis, and that's probably it. Wher...

Re: Adjusting Aero table color.

That absolutely can be fixed with adjusting the monitor.

But yeah, what grantspain said, adjusting them is different to almost any other monitor. Changing gains offsets the cutoffs and there's no unified contrast control.

It's still my favorite monitor though. Looks amazing when dialed in.

Re: Discharging astro city monitor

Every time you're sliding in your screw driver (or whatever make shift tool you're using) under the cap you're scratching away the high voltage insulating paint (the red circle around the anode) and putting unnecessary stress on the anode prongs. The monitor doesn't have to be discharged if you're j...

He's removming the annode cap in the process of discharging the monitor.

Just discharging for safety taking the monitor out to clean the inside of the cabinet.
There's absolutely no reason to discharge the monitor if you're cleaning the inside of the cabinet.
