Re: Street Fighter Zero 3 (Upper) - CPS2 (NAOMI)

Sorry, updated the board. Very nice score moshpit. I don't know if the score is affected if turbo is used, but I would normally have used turbo for scoring only and normal for training. I only got the feeling that the AI is adapting to your game play with SFZ; with SFZ2 and SFZ3 I always experience ...

Re: Anyone stroking themselves over the PS4 launch announcem

The last time I got really excited over anything harware related was when the PSP was announced/released.

What does PS4 or whatever offer anyways? Better graphics?

Re: Super Hyper Street Fighter Twin Turbo Champion Edition

I play SFZ the most, though there is no reason to have this game at all, nor is it actually my favourite. My favourite is Z2 and Z3, can't decide between them. I like the new characters (Gen, Sakura, Rolento) and most of the stages in Z2 are awesome, as is the music and presentation. I don't like th...

Re: Wii U

Don't know if I'll get one.

Wii was fun for a while, but I didn't really see any game making great and varied use of the new controller.
Don't really expect anything else from the Wii U.

Hopefully the next Nintendo console will be a VB remake in the style of the Sony headset.

RE: Thread of awesomeness

This thread is epic. 1.) A Street Fighter Zero development board found, tested and displayed 2.) The devices to upload the security keys to CPS2 boards found and displayed 3.) Cleaning and fixing of phoenixed CPS2 ROMs began 4.) CPS3 cartridges sucessfully revived Within just 3 weeks. There should b...

I really could use dead cartridges of the types I don't have yet.
I have a dead Warzard cart if you'd need, but I can't see any stickers on it to tell which of the 4 chips it is.

Re: leonardoliveira & Idc's clean decrypted roms

If anyone is wondering how this CPS3 revival stuff works, it has to do with that "unknown" chunk of code at address 0x7FF00 every game has and that doesn't seem to decrypt with the game keys.... Supposed facts:... Thanks for the explanation. But i am a bit confused about the bootloader bit: the boo...

What CD has been inserted?

Was the cart dead?

Did the cart match the CD / game?

Is this behaviour different from what is usual?

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

Well explaining how to make conversions here would certainly be a no-no, so that will not be discussed. Thanks, that answered my question; don't worry, discussing the process wasn't my intention just double checking if I properly understand how and what you guys need to go through in order to produ...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

... Thank you for your detailed explanation. I have no experience with the M68xxx or the CPS2 hardware, but I do get an understanding now what the difficulties are. As testing in MAME is not enough, you'd need someone who owns a dead, original board, as testing say a Mighty Pang on a Street Fighter...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

Hi leonardoliveira, could you please explain what you mean by "Mitchell and Choko stuff"? As for listing problematic Phoenix ROMs, I've not had any experience any so far - I only know of problems from reading threads here and there (IIRC SFZ3 and SSF2X some winning quote text mess-ups in English set...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

Do you intend to clean every CPS2 game, including all region versions, or do you only clean certain games? What is your priority in selecting the games? Popularity of the game, severity of problems with the phoenixed set, easeiness to reprogramm? It seems a lot an tedious work, so you'd have to sacr...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

Is this procedure confirmed, hearsay or educated guessing? What if a unit becomes un-useable (falls down, breaks etc.), weren't there any replacement parts? Well I used words such as "estimate", "suspect", "probably" and "plausible". Based upon information I was given, so you could call it educated...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

No worries. Basically, these units existed in very small numbers, like less than ten. We're talking in the region of two in Mexico, two in the USA, two in Europe and two in Japan. I don't know the exact numbers, but that estimate probably isn't far off the mark. ;) I'd suspect that the majority hav...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

But there is no manual explaining how to use both items? Of course there's no manual, it's kit made in-house, not mass produced. If there ever was a manual, it was probably hand written on a notepad, or at best a typewritten sheet. "Of course" ... is not clear to me (n00b), sorry. Please fill me in...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

So you have both, the PDA and the box? No, I just have the box. The PDA is in the hands of another user. I won't reveal his name, but perhaps he will make himself known soon. I can confirm that both pieces of hardware came from Capcom Mexico. But there is no manual explaining how to use both items?...

Re: CPS2 Development PCB - SFZ

So you have both, the PDA and the box?

TBH, I have always imagined some simpler setup - this looks like it could be used to launch nuclear missiles or something.

Did somebody donate these things to you or did you find them on eBay or Yahoo, if I may ask?
