Polaris, If you are hooking the pad up to your cabinet, if you can obtain a Dreamcast Agetec arcade stick it will make life easy. They usually not over 2000 yen on yahoo auctions japan. i have two of those babys, the pad hack is for a little wooden (*gasp*) project i have in mind, but thanks anyway...

I like Mala as a front end, if you have a look on BYOAC there is lots of discussion of the front ends available and support to set them up, there is a guide by a guy called uncleT which tells you exactly what to do to get Mala running. I think AtomicFE has the emulators built in. anyway there's load...

If you stick with it , you might want to look at getting a nice front end for it, now you've got mameUI running you'll be able to do what i'm saying , trust me, if i can do it you can and it'll look that bit nicer on your cab

i couldn't say how, but isn't Mame able to give you info about the roms and boards etc? i saw a youtube vid of a presentation on mame and its certainly the impression i got, from what was being discussed
