Re: Nanao MS-2930 chassis compatible with Toshiba A68KSM696X tube (from MS-2933)?

Thanks grantspain, I adjusted the flyback and was able to get a picture on screen: https://i.imgur.com/0kJibZG.jpg Looks like I might have picked up a chassis issue along the way. Plugged it into another tube to confirm and got the same result (albeit blue, not red. It's sometimes green too): https:...

Re: Weird Metal Slug 3 MVS issues

Try clearing the backup ram on the motherboard (from the test menu), that can sometimes resolve weird issues like this.

Re: Nanao MS-2930 chassis compatible with Toshiba A68KSM696X tube (from MS-2933)?

Hey grantspain,

I connected the chassis to the tube today and got no picture, only black screen.

There is neck glow and the chassis is known to be working.

Any thoughts?

Thanks grantspain

Do you happen to know the proper resistor value and location on the chassis?

Re: Strikers 1999 no BGM

Success! Had some help from XeD who was able to get the sound working again. From his notes: "Replaced small Op Amp. After reviewing everything, I did some reading. Found the dac and determine the analog side was bad. Work my way down from there. Music was right channel and fx was left" Thanks for t...

Nanao MS-2930 chassis compatible with Toshiba A68KSM696X tube (from MS-2933)?

Hi all,

I have a Nanao MS-2930 chassis that I want to connect to a tube from a Nanao MS-3933 (Toshiba A68KSM696X).

Is it possible to do a straight swap like this?

Thanks

Re: Strikers 1999 no BGM

The sound ROM is the SMD chip marked "SOUND". The soundchip is a YMF278B (OPL4) which is also a FM synthesizer. Without the ROM it is still capable of producing sounds. You would get some sound out of it if the fault were on the sound rom. I think your problem should be at the analog circuits of so...

Re: Strikers 1999 no BGM

Reflowed the SOUND smt chip, no luck.

Would the BGM data be stored on the socketed roms by chance?

I don't have a reader/writer to verify, but can send them off to somebody who does.

Re: Strikers 1999 no BGM

Where in Canada are you? Take some pictures of the board :) I'm in Western Canada (Vancouver Island area) Additional notes: I've tested this in my Blast City, Neo Geo Jamma cab and supergun with same results. Strikers 1999 no BGM

Hi all, I recently picked up a Stikers 1945 III pcb, but the game has no BGM. Everything else works as it should (graphics, sound effects, etc), but no background music ever plays. In the sound test in the test menu, again you can test sound effects but the music won’t play when you test it. The sou...

Crowin Case/Crown Cab Korean Candy Cab Opinions

I have an opportunity to pick up locally a Korean candy cab, from what I can tell it's called a "Crowin Case" or "Crown Cab". I've found a few other pictures online but not a ton of info so I was wondering - what's the deal with these? Are they any good? Worth picking up?

Re: In the Hunt pcb no sprites

Thanks for the heads up VectorGlow. I checked out the other pin first and it appeared safe, so I went ahead and swapped the jumper position. It looks like this has resolved the sprite flicker issue :awe: For anyone referencing this thread in the future, the jumper position as shown in geosnow's pict...

Re: In the Hunt pcb no sprites

Thanks VectorGlow, I see it now :awe: I've removed it and cleaned the pins (they were definitely dirty) and replaced it, and the sprites are more or less present now. However there seems to be extreme sprite flicker, notably when there is lots of action on the screen but other times as well (ship di...

Re: In the Hunt pcb no sprites

Apologies for the necro. I have a Kaitei Diasensou with the same issues. The jumper you're referring to, is that the ceramic cap on IC53? My chip in that position is also missing a pin, it would be right under the "S" on "S74" in Geosnow's pic. I can't tell from the pics if the pin is supposed to be...

Re: Items spotted on eBay

Yaton recently reached an agreement with an old Sega warehouse in China to sell out their old inventory. Most stuff is original, but some stuff like this CP falls into a bit of grey area. These are usually "licensed by sega" which means they had the legal license to reproduce the item for the Chines...

Re: A new Neo Geo game just announced...

It's actually shaping up into a pretty good looking game, and hopefully has enough features (masks, etc.) to make it at least slightly unique from Metal Slug. It's still a hefty price tag though, not sure I'm quite sold yet...

Re: Introduce yourself here!

Hi all, thanks for having me. I'm mostly into Neo Geo MVS stuff; I have a 4 slot big red and about 100 carts at the moment. Also recently getting into CPS2 (5 boards and counting), Atomiswave and SHMUP PCBs. Looking forward to learning more and interacting with you all!
