Good replacement for 55ns 2148L SRAM?

Hello, anyone knows of a good replacement for the MBM2148L-55 1K x 4 SRAM? preferably one that does not reach 80 degrees celcius when working? I found a list here: http://www.citylan.it/wiki/index.php/SRAM_1k_x_4 , tried my luck with some HM6148HLP-55 ones but either half are faulty (wouldn't ...

Re: Why is my Pang3 C-Board modded like this?

gonna answer my question most likely, I found this page: https://www.arcadefraidi.com/repairs/three-wonders-suicide-battery-cps1-capcom/ and it seems this is the mod so that you can run decrypted roms. On the B-Board the 2 roms on positions 1 and 7 where soldered masked roms, rom on position11 was s...

Why is my Pang3 C-Board modded like this?

Hiya! I recently got a working PANG3 CPS-1 board, A-board is a 12mhz one that looks fine with no weirdness going on, B-board is the expected Mitchel one but C-Board looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/aM6xbRzl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6AmAmuZl.jpg I don't know much about CPS-1 but this looks like a C-...

PTC rated at 25ohm, coils is 27ohm : is it an issue?

Hiya! I did a tube swap on my cab and I noticed that the new tube has a 27ohm degaussing coil , the old one had a 25ohm coil. The PTC on the POLO 25/28" chassis is a Philips 96209 one: http://i.imgur.com/Thebb9u.png is the +2ohm an issue? I would prefer not to mess with the new tube since it's actua...

Re: Monster Land English : from Encryption to Decryption...

finally replaced the ceramic ram ICs : http://i.imgur.com/fDBhyNJl.jpg the difference in heat is just too great. From 80 degrees "burn finger in 2sec" temps now the new ones work at 25~30max - they are still 1986 devices after all... IMHO it's a must to replace along the tantalum caps. I will measur...

Re: Monster Land English : from Encryption to Decryption...

There is a god amount of voltage drop - the far-end gfx roms operate with ~4.8v , maybe replacing the really old srams will help on that regard. You could run an additional power line to the far end of the board. It's actually a pretty common practice on older boards. really? I had no idea I'll see...

This is my board (from the same seller) after some cosmetic changes and recap: http://i.imgur.com/VHzrgUw.jpg Here is what I found so far :D - both our boards run mpatou's decrypted roms - Muerto's board seem to be an earlier revision there custom chips were implemented in daughterboards - the mainb...

Re: PCB Wrapping 101

this is how I pack my pcbs and other "valuable" electronics for almost 2 decades now: - antistatic foam on solder side so the hole-thru components don't pierce the packaging - board inside antistatic foam bag - everything inside a classic antistatic bag with any docs and a small 5g silica pouch http...

Re: Wonder Boy color PROMS: can mame roms be used to burn new ones?

It is not a voltage issue for sure but it *could be* an issue that the unused pins are not defined as such and the GALs internal open collector causes the heat built up (I already tried grounding unused pins but did not help as they also need to be defined as such in the equation file). I asked if G...

Re: Wonder Boy color PROMS: can mame roms be used to burn new ones?

I have also found this link but it is of no use to me , I don't have the original Wonder Boy proms to read  so I am looking to make my own
I used GadgetFreak's GAL replacements but they get insanely hot so I am not comfortable with them.

Wonder Boy color PROMS: can mame roms be used to burn new ones?

Hiya!

Wonder Boy for Sega System2 uses 3x N82S129AN proms as part of a 12bit DAC to generate the image.
Is it possible to use the MAME ROM data to burn into 3 new N82S129AN proms? Or a way to convert these mame dumps to something usable for real ICs ?

Thanks in advance for any info/help! :awe:

Re: Monster Land English : from Encryption to Decryption...

got it running... removed the dud/weird "mcu" and made some connections at the back to match this schematic (source here but it's fixed since a connection was missing) https://i.imgur.com/Chx27ty.png http://i.imgur.com/TJdgt7Rl.jpg thanks mpatou for the help and for creating this romset! :awe:
